A new agency - a new mission

The Swedish Social Insurance Inspectorate (Inspektionen för socialförsäkringen, ISF) is a new Swedish government agency, established on July 1, 2009.

The ISF has been set up to provide an independent supervisory function for the Swedish social insurance administration. The objectives of the agency are to strengthen compliance with legislation and other statutes and to improve the efficiency of social insurance administration through system supervision and efficiency control.

The ISF is an authority under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and reports to the Minister for Social Security, Mr Ulf Kristersson.

The agency became fully operative at the end of 2010, with a staff of approximately 50 people. The agency is located in Stockholm.
